Toronto, Canada-based Boat Rocker Media, Temple Street Productions’ newly  formed parentco that creates, produces and distributes content and brands has acquired Canuck kids production company Radical Sheep.

The deal will see Radical Sheep become the original kids and family content arm of production-focused Boat Rocker Studios. As such, all of Boat Rocker Studios’ original kids productions, which include The Next Step (pictured)  and Lost & Found Music Studios, will be consolidated under Radical Sheep.

As part of the deal, Radical Sheep VP of production and development and executive producer Michelle Melanson Cuperus will become president of Radical Sheep, reporting directly to Temple Street co-executive chairmen David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg.

Radical Sheep owner and executive producer John Leitch will continue as a consultant, with a focus on strategic initiatives and supporting the growth of his company, which will be headquartered in Boat Rocker’s offices.

The acquisition serves to strengthen Boat Rocker’s core IP creation business while also expanding its global distribution and partnership initiatives.

Series in Radical Sheep’s portfolio include Big Comfy Couch, Stella and Sam, The Bagel and Becky Show and Fangbone!. The company also produced Ollie! The Boy Who Became What He Ate, which was Boat Rocker Media’s first third-party distribution acquisition.

Boat Rocker also has a significant minority interest in Toronto-based Industrial Brothers, which will remain separate from Radical Sheep. It will continue to operate independently and create original content with the support of Boat Rocker.
