Angelo Rules licensing push underway in Germany

With Super RTL's commerical arm taking the lead, the launch of Angelo Rules' licensing program in Germany is expected to open the door in other EMEA countries.

London-based CAKE Entertainment and French CGI studio TeamTO have granted Super RTL’s consumer products arm licensing rights to Angelo Rules in German-speaking territories.

The property’s licensing push in the region─which will kick off with publishing and promotion categories─coincides with the launch of the comedy’s third season, and it is part of Super RTL’s consumer products department’s larger plans to reach an older demographic.

In addition, the launch of an Angelo Rules licensing program into one of Europe’s largest markets is expected to open the door in other territories across EMEA, where the show has performed well via such channels as Cartoon Network (EMEA, Latin America and Asia), France Télévisions (France), Canal + (France), RAI (Italy), Televisio De Catalunya (Spain) and TG4 (Ireland).

Created by TeamTO and co-produced and distributed worldwide by CAKE, Angelo Rules has aired on Super RTL since 2010. The series has consistently brought in strong ratings for the channel and claims a 30% market share in the six- to nine-year-old demo. Angelo Rules also has a strong following on Super RTL’s digital platform www.toggo.de, which reaches close to 200,000 kids per month.

The 52 x 11-minute comedy follows sweet-talking 11-year-old genius Angelo, who has a knack for getting out of trouble and using his charisma to make things go his way.
