Henson inks raft of program sales

Among the deals, Netflix has snapped up global SVOD rights for the first seasons of Sid the Science Kid and Dinosaur Train.

On the heels of MIPTV, The Jim Henson Company has secured a round of new multiplatform licensing agreements for its hit preschool series Dinosaur Train Doozers and Sid the Science Kid.

Streaming giant Netflix has acquired global SVOD rights for season one of Dinosaur Train, as well as the UK and Korean rights for season two. It’s also taken the global SVOD rights to season one of Sid the Science Kid and Sid the Science Kid: The Movie.

In other SVOD deals, Multichoice Africa Limited has licensed the SVOD and AVOD rights throughout Africa for Dinosaur Train seasons one, two and three. Germany’s SVOD service Watchever has acquired Doozers, while Brazil-based Movile Internet Movel has snapped up Dinosaur Train season one for Germany and licensed on-demand rights to season one and interstitial segments of Sid the Science Kid for the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the UK.

Staying with Dinosaur Train, the free-TV rights for the brand-new fourth season have been acquired by pubcaster TVO for English-speaking Canada and by France Télévisions in Europe. In addition, France Télévisions Distribution has bought the TVOD rights to season three and four. Hungary’s MTVA has the exclusive rights to season one for free TV, while Tring TV has licensed the free-TV and basic cable rights in Albania and Kosovo for seasons one, two and three. Tring has also purchased the free -TV and basic cable rights for Sid the Science Kid: The Movie and interstitials for Albania and Kosovo.

Other Doozers deals include France Télévisions Distribution taking the TVOD rights for France and POD Worldwide picking up the series for free TV in Thailand.

Rounding out the sales, Discovery Education has bought the global education rights for seasons one and two of Sid the Science Kid.
