Diary of a Wimpy Kid author Jeff Kinney and former Family Education Network president Jen MacLean have unveiled a new kids entertainment company, StoryArc Media, that will expand popular online brands Poptropica (created by Kinney), Funbrain and Galactic Hot Dogs.

The company, which remains under FEN owner Sandbox Partners’ umbrella, now controls notable FEN assets – kids online world Poptropica, educational games, books and comics online portal Funbrain, plus book-based IP Galactic Hot Dogs.

All three brands will be extended across print, digital and mobile platforms.

Created in 2008 and aimed at six- to 15-year-olds, kidSAFE-certified multiplayer game Poptropica has more than 10 million registered players worldwide to date.

Funbrain, for its part, has been going strong since 1997 as a leading educational game destination for preschoolers to eighth graders, and features more than 100 interactive titles.

Also falling under the StoryArc umbrella is the New York Times bestselling book Poptropica: Mystery of the Map and the new novel Galactic Hot Dogs: The Wiener Strikes Back – the second book in the Galactic Hot Dog series being published next month.

Dedicated islands for both Mystery of the Map and Galactic Hot Dogs can also be found online within Poptropica.

FEN was acquired by UK-based Sandbox last year and is now separated into StoryArc and FEN Learning. With Abhi Arya as president, FEN Learning includes signature properties FamilyEducation.com, TeacherVision, InfoPlease and FactMonster.
