Charlie Brown and the beloved Peanuts gang will return to American TV sets on May 9, when Turner’s 24-hour animation network Boomerang unspools the new short-form Peanuts series from French studio Normaal Animation.
The exclusive US premiere of the series will launch at 11:30 a.m. ET with a sneak preview on Cartoon Network the week of May 9 at 10:30 a.m. ET.
New episodes on Boomerang will broadcast daily in the 11:30 a.m. time slot, while select individual shorts will also roll out on the Cartoon Network app.
Based on Charles M. Schulz’s iconic Peanuts comic strip, the France Télévisions commission made its broadcast debut on France 3 in 2014 and now airs in more than 20 international territories on networks including Discovery LatAm and Disney Korea.
FranceTV Distribution is the global distribution partner for the 500-episode, watercolor-textured series.
Peanuts‘ arrival in the US follows last year’s critically acclaimed CG-animated feature The Peanuts Movie from Blue Sky, which earned US$246 million at the global box office.
The new animated vignettes join Boomerang’s growing slate of original family-friendly programs, which include Bunnicula, Wabbit, Be Cool Scooby-Doo!, The Tom and Jerry Show and the hour-long special Super Hero High.
