Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing has taken North American master publishing rights to eOne Family’s preschool co-pro PJ Masks.

The superhero-themed series, which began airing daily on Disney Junior and Disney Channel in the US last September, will be featured in a Simon & Schuster book collection that’s due to hit North American retail shelves this fall. The offering will include a mix of story, novelty, board and ready-to-read books.

The publishing program joins a toy range from Just Play, which will start rolling out across North America this fall before going global in 2017.

With these initial licensing partners on-board, eOne is now looking to build an expansive consumer products program for the brand. So far, PJ Masks is being extended to a website, a free app and a music video this year.

Produced by eOne and French studios Frog Box and TeamTO, along with Disney Junior and France 5, PJ Masks also airs in France, the UK, Italy, Spain and Germany. It is based on French author Romuald Racioppo’s popular picture book series Les Pyjamasques, which features everyday six-year-olds who magically transform into crime-fighting superheroes when they put on their pajamas.
