Northern Ireland-based prodco Sixteen South has announced 2016 premiere dates for a new season of its award-winning preschool series Lily’s Driftwood Bay, which will feature legendary musician Dolly Parton’s animated debut.

Parton will guest star in a special double-length episode, “The Salty Chicken,” as Noleen, a famous singing chicken who makes a surprise appearance in Driftwood Bay after her yacht gets beached during a storm.

Currently in production, season two of the series will debut on Nick Jr. in the UK on June 6 and on 24-hour preschool net Sprout in the US on June 27. Parton’s episode is expected to air in 2017.

Also lending voice talent to the new season is popular Welsh actor and comedian Rob Brydon (Gavin and Stacey, The Rob Brydon Show). Brydon will appear in “The Proposal” as smooth, seafaring captain Tom, the former love interest of Nonna (Annette Crosbie).

Lily’s Driftwood Bay is produced by Sixteen South (Claude, Pajanimals, Big and Small) and co-produced by KiKA and ZDF Germany.

Since making its UK premiere in 2014, the mixed-media series is now broadcast in more than 100 countries worldwide on additional networks including Netflix (US, Canada, UK, Ireland), MTV Oy (Finland), TV New Zealand (New Zealand), TVB (Hong Kong) and Radio Television Brunei (Brunei). KiKA is set to premiere season one on May 29.

The production announcement follows a recent deal between Sixteen South with Disney Junior EMEA for its new 2D-animated preschool series Claude.
