Sea monsters, a curious kitty and one jazzy duck are among the new wave of characters being introduced in Amazon’s upcoming pilot season, which will bring a total of six kids series to Amazon Video subscribers in the US, the UK, Germany, Austria and Japan beginning June 17.

The kids titles include Sid & Marty Krofft’s anticipated live-action show Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, which is based on the brothers’ classic Saturday morning series from the 1970s. The Kroffts (H.R. Pufnstuf, Land of the Lost) are executive producers for series, and the pilot is being directed by Jonathan Judge (The ThundermansSchool of Rock) and stars David Arquette (Scream, Jake and the Neverland Pirates) as Captain Barnabas.

From California-based studio Titmouse comes Little Big Awesome, a comedy for kids ages six to 11 that combines 2D animation, puppetry and live-action footage. The show follows Gluko, a jelly giant, and Lennon, a small kid-like creature with a fuzzy hat, who are inseparable buddies that travel through a universe where sea turtles fly, flowers talk, and tear drops splash around. The pilot is created by Tomas Dieguez (TRONCO).

Also targeting the six to 11 demo is Morris and the Cow, an animated comedy that follows a 10-year-old who is determined to become a cowboy. The show is created and written by Andreas Trolf (Sanjay and Craig) and Luke Watson (Memphis Beat), with production and animation from California’s Bento Box Entertainment (Bob’s Burgers).

Animated comedy Toasty Tales follows three best friends─who happen to be marshmallows─ living in the long-forgotten Move-Along National Park. Created by Thomas Borowski and Caroline Foley (Rick and Morty, Robot Chicken), the pilot is animated by California-based Stoopid Buddy Stoodios.

For the preschool set, Japan-based Dwarf Studios’ The Curious Kitty and Friends (pictured) is a stop-motion animated show that follows the upbeat adventures of Komaneko and her friends Mimmi Bear, Radibo and Yeti. Komaneko makes her own movies, usually starring her two favorite dolls, Wink and Ink. The show comes from the mind of Tsuneo Goda, the creator of stop-motion sensation and internet icon Domo.

Jazz Duck, meanwhile, encourages preschoolers to listen and express themselves through music. Created by Tom Jobbins, the show is animated by London-based Nexus Productions.

As part of Amazon Studios’ ongoing development process, the pilots will be available for streaming to all Amazon subscribers, who will review them in order to help select the next Amazon Original Series, which will eventually be available to Prime members.

Last December, following its fall pilot season, Amazon Studios greenlit three new original kids series─ Danger & EggsIf You Give a Mouse a Cookie and Niko and the Sword of Light─and acclaimed preschool show Tumble Leaf  from Amazon’s first pilot season has been renewed for a third series of eps.
