Amazon has greenlit a second season of its hit live-action original tween-skewing series Just Add Magic.
The launch date for the new season of the single-cam series for kids ages six to 11 that will be available to Prime Video subscribers has yet to be announced.
Based on American author Cindy Callaghan’s book of the same name, Just Add Magic follows the adventures of three BFFs, Kelly (Olivia Sanabia), Darbie (Abby Donnelly) and Hannah (Aubrey Miller), who stumble upon Kelly’s grandmother’s mysterious cookbook in the attic and discover its recipes have magical powers.
The series is executive produced by Andrew Orenstein (Malcolm in the Middle) with Joe Nussbaum (George Lucas in Love, Awkward) and is produced by Pixie Wespiser (Good Luck Charlie).
At launch, Just Add Magic set a record in terms of US Prime Video streams and hours watched, making its premiere weekend the most successful yet for an Amazon Original Kids series.
The series was also recently added to Amazon’s FreeTime Unlimited service in a move to age-up its core audience of kids ages three to eight.
