CBeebies has commissioned comedy adventure series Bitz & Bob, which is due to air on the UK pubcaster in 2017.

The new show—which follows eight-year-old inventor Bitz and her little brother Bob—is designed to encourage preschool viewers (particularly girls) to get involved in engineering, experiments and exploration.

Each of the 44 x 11-minute episodes features key principles of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math).

A live-action companion show entitled Bitz & Bob Let’s Make It provides viewers with step-by-step instructions to create the inventions shown in the main series.  Each of these 44 x four-minutes episodes also provides more information on the specific engineering principles at work in each Bitz & Bob episode.

The series is being produced by CBeebies Productions and FremantleMedia Kids & Family (FMK) as part of their five-year co-production partnership. FMK holds full global rights to the series.

Recently, CBeebies commissioned a second series for Footy Pups, bowed My First… and landed Go Jetters in MENA.
