Australia’s SLR Productions is set to develop author Jacqueline Harvey’s best-selling children’s book series Alice-Miranda into an animated TV show.

The books–published by Penguin Random House–will be developed into a 26 x half-hour drama-comedy series. The show will be aimed at the six- to nine-year-old audience, a demographic that has been drawn to the 14-part Alice-Miranda books both domestically and internationally.

The books’ stories center around Alice-Miranda Highton-Smith-Kennington-Jones, an extraordinary young girl who at the age of 10 has organized her own early entry into boarding school along with her cheeky pony, Bonaparte.

SLR Productions will develop the series in partnership with Germany-based ZDF Enterprises, while Australia’s NINE Network is on-board as a local broadcaster.

Recently, ZDF has made news with its live-action fare, partnering with Cottonwood Media on a new teen drama and taking the popular series Dance Academy to the big screen.
