Toronto, Canada-based business-to-business publisher and events company Brunico Communications, owner of Kidscreen and its sister brands like Realscreen and Playback, has acquired the assets of Achilles Media, including operating rights to the Banff World Media Festival (BANFF).
Also headquartered in Toronto, Achilles produces events for the entertainment industry, including BANFF, nextMedia and the Digi Awards, as well as the Canadian Innovation Exchange—a networking conference for early-stage tech companies looking to secure capital.
As a privately held company serving the global media and entertainment industry, Brunico will help Achilles maximize the full potential of its events portfolio.
Thirty-year-old Brunico currently produces globally attended conferences and marketplaces, such as Realscreen Summit, Stream and Kidscreen Summit. The latter saw its attendance rise by 5% this year in Miami, with close to 1,800 delegates attending the four-day event that serves as a conference and a market for the global kids entertainment industry.
Achilles Media CEO Robert Montgomery will not join Brunico in the transition and terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
