Former Hopster product lead Mahesh Ramachandra has joined UK-based VOD platform Azoomee as chief product officer.

Ramachandra will work to accelerate Azoomee’s digital user acquisition strategy for its namesake app, which commissions and curates ad-free videos, games, tutorials and learning content aimed at kids ages five to nine.

Ramachandra has extensive experience in VOD and OTT services, mobile apps, cross-platform product development, product management, content strategy and kids media. He was one of the first employees at UK-based Hopster, which for its part recently signed a multi-year, 50-episode SVOD deal with ABC Commercial.

Last November, Azoomee named BT TV’s head of kids TV and music Sarah Aspinall as its new creative director and head of content. She parted ways with the company at the end of June. The app, meanwhile, launched earlier this year for iOS and Android devices.
