CBeebies has picked up a second season of its comedy series Jamillah and Aladdin, the first-ever CBeebies/CBBC co-commission.
The new season of the 26 x 15-minute live-action series, produced by UK-based Kindle Entertainment (Hank Zipzer), will debut this August.
Filmed on location in South Africa, Jamillah and Aladdin follows the adventures of a courageous young girl, Jamillah (Blossom Campbell), who lives in modern-day London and befriends a genie (Leroy Osei-Bonsu) after finding a magic lamp in her family’s attic.
After the discovery, she winds up travelling back in time to ancient Baghdad, where she meets a boy of her age, Aladdin (Wilson Radjou-Pujalte), who shares her same sense of adventure.
CBeebies controller Kay Benbow commissioned the series, which is executive produced by CBeebies’ Michael Towner and Kindle’s Anne Brogan.
Emma Stuart is the show’s producer, while Catharine Cooke and Jaco Smit serve as directors and Kathy Waugh as head writer.
