Toronto-based Boat Rocker Media is continuing its acquisition streak. Today it announced the purchase of 2D-animation service studio Jam Filled Entertainment in Ottawa, which joins another recent buy Radical Sheep that now leads Boat Rocker’s kids and family content arm.

Jam Filled’s founding partners, Kyle Mac Dougall (president) and creative directors Jamie Leclaire and Phil Lafrance, will stay with the company and retain their existing titles, while Jam Filled operates under its current name, falling under the management of Boat Rocker CEO John Young. Boat Rocker intends to provide capital investment to help Jam Filled expand its 2D animation capacity and develop 3D animation capabilities.

Currently, Jam Filled houses 150 animators and  is providing the service work on Radical Sheep’s upcoming animated comedy The Bagel and Becky Show (pictured), which is slated for Corus-owned Teletoon’s 2016/2017 lineup. Jam Filled is also doing service work on Nickelodeon’s The Loud House.

With the addition of Jam Filled, Boat Rocker further expands its offerings in the kids and family content space, adding to Radical Sheep (which has assumed production of live-action Family Channel hit The Next Step from sister company Temple Street Productions) and its recently established animation studio Boat Rocker Animation.
