Nickelodeon has ordered 13 more episodes of its hit Emmy-nominated preschool series Mutt & Stuff from legendary children’s TV creators Sid and Marty Krofft (H.R. Pufnstuf, Land Of The Lost).

The pickup comes as the show’s second season is set to premiere on Nickelodeon US tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET/PT with a special episode featuring the Harlem Globetrotters.

Set in a school for dogs, Mutt & Stuff stars teenager Calvin Millan, his dad and one of the show’s exec producers, Cesar (Cesar 911, Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan), 15 real dogs and Calvin’s larger-than-life best friend and canine puppet, Stuff.

By showing how puppies can provide friendship and loyalty, the series helps preschoolers learn how to train and guide their pet dogs.

The series’ social-emotional curriculum also helps preschoolers identify and manage emotions, and develop interpersonal awareness and social skills.

Now comprising 73 episodes in total, Mutt & Stuff will enter a new 9:30 a.m. (ET/PT) regular weekday timeslot beginning September 6 with new eps continuing to air throughout the fall.

The brothers Krofft are the program’s creators and executive producers, along with Bradley Zweig (Yo Gabba Gabba!, Wallykazam!).

With the success of Mutt & Stuff, a partnership with MCN Fullscreen on the movie remake of their Electra Woman and Dyna Girl property, as well as an upcoming Amazon project based on their iconic Sigmund and the Sea Monsters series from the ’70s, the Krofft’s late-career resurgence continues.
