Canada’s Corus Entertainment-owned channel YTV has greenlit two more Anne of Green Gables MOWs, with the films expected to air in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Production on Good Stars and Fire & Dew, both of which are produced by Breakthrough Entertainment, began in Toronto last week. The films are follow-ups to Breakthrough’s L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables, which aired earlier this year on YTV.

Good Stars is both written and directed by John Kent Harrison, while Fire & Dew is penned by Susan Coyne. The sequels see Ella Ballentine returning as Anne Shirley, as well as Martin Sheen and Sara Botsford reprising their roles as Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert.

Both Good Stars and Fire & Dew are executive produced by Joan Lambur, Peter Williamson, Ira Levy and Lucy Maud Montgomery’s granddaughter Kate Macdonald Butler.

Good Stars follows Anne Shirley as she turns 13 and her relationships with friend Diana and academic rival Gilbert Blythe begin to shift, while Fire & Dew sees Anne head to Charlottetown to continue her education and work toward becoming a teacher.

Earlier this month, the first film, L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables was picked up in the UK by ITV3 and in Germany by ARD. The MOW was also acquired by PBS in an all-rights broadcast deal for the US, and was picked up for a theatrical release in Australia and New Zealand.
