Milan, Italy-based indie Team Entertainment has secured a global distribution agreement with L.A.-based producer/distributor Multicom Entertainment Group for its English-language, volleyball-themed series Spike Team.
Multicom, under the leadership of veteran television executive Irv Holender, will take the property, including a new 26 x half-hour third season, to MIPCOM next month to look for international licensing opportunities.
Created by Italian volleyball icon Andrea “Lucky” Lucchetta, the 2D-animated series follows six ordinary teenage girls who can do extraordinary things on the volleyball court with guidance from their coach, Lucky (Jason Griffith of Sonic the Hedgehog).
The third season is co-produced by New York-based post-production house Audioworks Producers Group, and will feature new music and songs by TV music composer Tony DiMito and globally renowned musician and singer/songwriter Kasim Sultan.
Team Entertainment also produces the series with Lucky Dreams and Italy’s Rai Fiction.
The brand already has more than a dozen licensees for its L&M program across categories including publishing, stationery and back-to-school items, shoes, sport apparel, watches, umbrellas, PVC balls, books, salty snacks and chocolate products.
Team’s deal with Multicom will see the companies look to appoint a licensing agency to handle global L&M deals for the IP once broadcast sales are secured.
