Canadian industry org The Youth Media Alliance (YMA) is once again preparing to award its Andra Sheffer Scholarship to a Canadian student, who will receive fully paid trip to Kidscreen Summit in Miami. The recipient will be a university student with a passion for creating innovative content and who plans to pursue a career in children’s animation, television or digital media production.
The annual scholarship includes US$1,140 in cash to cover travel costs, one Kidscreen Summit conference registration (valued at approximately US$1,595) and a complimentary registration to the 2017 Banff World Media Festival (valued at US$1,695).
As part of the scholarship, the student will also be provided with mentorship by staff and members of the YMA board of directors.
Kidscreen Summit take place from February 13 to 16, 2017, and the deadline to apply for the Andra Sheffer Scholarship is October 15.
The conference includes workshops, keynotes, presentations and panels exploring the industry’s trends, innovations and critical issues. The scholarship recipient will have full access to all events and networking opportunities.
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents in their third or fourth year as an undergraduate or graduate student in animation, film, television or digital media production. Applicants must have a letter of support from at least one professor and submit a short essay outlining their specific interest in the children’s entertainment industry. Applicants will also be required to submit a short outline of a project in development to be presented at Kidscreen Summit.
The recipient will be selected by the YMA’s committee of members. More details can be found on YMA’s website.
