Italy’s Rainbow has inked a global deal with Netflix for its first full live-action production, Maggie & Bianca: Fashion Friends.

The fashion-inspired sitcom, which premiered with high ratings on Italy’s RAI Gulp at the end of August, will be available to stream in global Netflix territories next year.

Maggie & Bianca tells the story of American teenager Maggie (Emanuela Rei) and her dream of becoming a famous fashion designer. After winning a scholarship to the Milan Fashion Academy on her 16th birthday, she heads to Italy, where she befriends like-minded Bianca (Giorgia Boni).

The series will join Rainbow’s upcoming Netflix original seriesWinx Club animated spin-off World of Winx, which launches November 4.

Maggie & Bianca will also be the first-ever live-action dramedy to air on Brazil’s free-to-air network TV Cultura when it debuts in December.

On the licensing front, pan-European master toy partner Simba Dickie is currently rolling out a Maggie & Bianca toy range in Europe, and a book series from publishing house Mondadori Libri launched in Italy during back-to-school.
