FremantleMedia Kids & Family (FMK) has sold its animated preschool series Kate & Mim-Mim (pictured) and Tree Fu Tom to Chinese state-owned channel CCTV Children’s Channel (CCTV-14).
CCTV will begin broadcasting the first season of Kate & Mim-Mim and the first two seasons of Tree Fu Tom to a potential audience of more than one billion viewers later this year.
Terms of the deal will also see the two series streaming on leading Chinese digital services YoukuTudou, iQIYI, Tencent, Mango, Sohu and LETV.
In addition, Kate & Mim-Mim‘s presence in China will also grow, thanks to FMK’s partnership with SINA Corporation that will see internationally acclaimed Chinese actress Zhou Xun record 32 Kate & Mim-Mim stories for the Chinese online media company’s newly launched storytelling machine, Habbie.
The new deals were brokered by FMK’s Hong-Kong based SVP for Asia, Henry Or, and come as FMK continues to grow its footprint in the region. The company recently introduced its first Thai co-pro, Tasty Tales of the Food Truckers, with Thai prodco Shellhut at MIP Jr.
