In a move that increases its footprint in the Asia-Pacific region, Turner’s all-animation Boomerang channel has been made available in Taiwan for the first time.

Boomerang’s arrival expands the net’s reach in the region to 32 million households, and adds an additional 1.6 million subscribers across Taiwan Mobile and Kbro platforms.

Along with classic animated shows like Tom and Jerry, Scooby-Doo and Looney Tunes, Boomerang’s Taiwan lineup for kids ages four to nine features new series Bunnicula (Warner Bros. Animation), Talking Tom (Outfit7) and Grizzy and the Lemmings (Studio Hari).

In addition, the network will offer both Mandarin audio and traditional Chinese subtitles from November 14.

New episodes of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, as well as Sunday movies featuring Barbie and Tom and Jerry, will also launch this month.

Other acquired programs set to air include The Garfield Show, Pink Panther and Pals, Strawberry Shortcake, Mr. Bean: The Animated Series and Inspector Gadget.

For digital coverage, Boomerang’s Watch and Play app has also launched in the region.

The launch follows Turner’s recent OTT deal with Thai telco AIS, which gives subscribers access to live and catch-up content from Boomerang and Toonami.

Turner has been rolling out its rebranded Boomerang channel globally since late 2014 in an effort to boost co-viewing audiences and leverage its global kids portfolio. Boomerang’s companion channel, Cartoon Network, is currently the top-rated international kids channel in Taiwan.
