In a deal that expands its presence in the world’s second-largest continent, BBC Worldwide has launched CBeebies in East Africa on Wananchi-operated home entertainment platform Zuku TV.

The multiplatform preschool brand is available on Zuku channel 602, and features animated series like CBeebies original commission Go Jetters, Studio AKA-produced Hey Duggee (pictured) and BAFTA winner Sarah and Duck.

Already a top-rated channel in South Africa, CBeebies recently launched in the Middle East and North Africa for the first time as a full channel exclusively to subscribers of multi-genre network beIN.

CBeebies now airs in more than 78 territories globally, including Australia, Asia (Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Mongolia and Myanmar), Mexico, Latin America and Poland.

Zuku TV provides more than 100 channels in its service across Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi and Uganda, and expects to roll out in more African countries in the coming years.
