Chinese family entertainment company UYoung has inked a deal with Mattel to globally launch toys based on its new animated action series Battleclaw.
The deal marks the first time a Chinese property has signed a global master toy license.
Battleclaw (78 x 22 minutes) will launch on China’s state broadcaster CCTV on November 25, and Mattel will launch its coinciding toy line—comprised of games and action figures—soon thereafter. It will also be the first time Mattel has launched a line in China ahead of the rest of the world.
Aimed at boys ages six to 10, the 2D-animated series is about head-to-head beast fighting—aptly called Battleclaw. It follows protagonist Ty and his other competitors as they try to win these battles and stop an ancient evil force threatening to take over the world.
