Suzanne Wilson moves from TVO Kids to Breakthrough

After three years with the Canadian pubcaster, Wilson is moving back to the production side in a new VP post at Toronto-based Breakthrough.

Toronto, Canada-based production and distribution studio Breakthrough Entertainment has appointed Suzanne Wilson as VP of family entertainment.

Wilson was most recently head of acqisitions at Canadian pubcaster TVO Kids. In her new role at Breakthrough, she will focus on growing and creating premium kids and family content for broadcast.

The appointment marks Wilson’s return to the prodco. Previously, she held the position of senior administrator of business affairs from 2010 to 2013. Wilson then went on to TVO, and was also part of the development and launch of Centennial College’s children’s media post-graduate program.

She has also worked for BBC Worldwide, Portfolio Entertainment, Lambur & Associates, The itsy bitsy Entertainment Company and the Chocolate Liberation Front.

The appointment follows Breakthrough’s recent addition of Caroline Tyre as senior director of international sales and acquisitions. She is responsible for managing sales of Breakthrough content in Europe, Oceania and South America.

The studio also just picked up the Shaw Rocket Prize for one of its most recent TV movies L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables.
