Chinese family entertainment company UYoung Media has secured the exclusive TV and VOD rights in China for a trio of hit kids shows—Oggy and the cockroaches, Paprika and If I were an Animal—from French prodco Xilam.

Signed at ATF Singapore, the content partnership is Xilam’s first distribution deal with China and builds on its growing footprint in India and Southeast Asia.

The deal will see UYoung rep season two, three and four of global children’s brand Oggy and the Cockroaches, along with Xilam’s new preschool series Paprika and its kid-narrated wildlife documentary series If I were an Animal.

Paprika is Xilam’s first preschool IP and is set to premiere on France 5 and Discovery Italy next fall, followed by a spring 2018 debut on Disney Jr. across EMEA.

The 78 x eight-minute 2D-animated series follows the fun outdoor adventures of brother and sister twins, Olivia and Stan, and their diverse group of friends.

Xilam’s partnership follows UYoung’s recent deal with Mattel, which will launch a toy line in China for the company’s new animated action series Battleclaw. (The deal marks the first time a Chinese IP has secured a global master toy license.)
