Canada-based video platform app developer You.i TV is bringing the Cartoon Network App to Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV in an expansion that increases the personalization and navigation functionality of the app.
You.i TV’s multi-screen video Engine platform lets TV and media companies build personalized and ad-based experiences on mobile devices, set-top boxes, consoles and streaming devices. The Ottawa-based startup secured US$11.3 million in funding last September.
Currently available on iOS, Android and Kindle Fire, the Cartoon Network app features a library of content including Adventure Time, Steven Universe, The Powerpuff Girls and The Amazing World of Gumball. It originally launched in 2015 featuring full episodes of TV series, as well as a playlist tool called The Mix.
The move follows Cartoon Network experiencing a 14% bump in VOD order last year, and the recent announcement that CN named five kidtech experts to advise its STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) board. Cartoon Network also recently created a new international arm focused on digital ventures and innovation.
