Viacom International Media Network (VIMN) is collaborating with Asian resort developer Coral World Park Undersea Resorts on a new Nickelodeon resort and attraction in the Philippines. The development project is expected to open in 2020.

The Nickelodeon undersea attraction and resort will be part of Coral World Park (CWP), an underwater-themed development in the Western Philippine province of Coron, Palawan. Nickelodeon’s new resort and themed attractions—the network’s first in Southeast Asia—will account for approximately a fourth of the development.

Attractions will be inspired by Nickelodeon properties like SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Dora the Explorer, and the resort will advocate ocean protection.

It will also feature an underwater dining experience with CWP’s underwater restaurants and lounges, located 20 feet below sea level.

The announcement comes as Nickelodeon continues to expand its theme-based attractions around the world. Last week, it was announced that construction has begun on Nickelodeon Cultural Resort, the network’s first theme park in China. The resort will be part of the Foshan Cultural and Ecological Coastal Project in Sanshui New Town, and will also open in 2020.
