Turner’s Cartoon Network and its global toy partner Spin Master have teamed up for the UK launch of The Powerpuff Girls toys.
The first items, including a storymaker playset (pictured) and plush, debuted at Argos this past weekend. Toy retailer The Entertainer will launch a range this week and will be hosting The Powerpuff Girls Super Saturdays, which sees its stores filled with branded activities and competitions for four weeks.
The playthings will be followed up by themed fashion, accessories, gifting, homewares, personal care and school supplies this spring.
The Powerpuff Girls has been a long-running success for Turner, originally airing from 1998 to 2005 before being rebooted last April. Thirty-eight million people have watched the series across EMEA since its relaunch, and it was the number-one show for girls ages four to nine in the UK in Q4 2016.
The licensing push follows on the heels of Hulu picking up exclusive streaming rights to the show’s full catalog, which will air on the streamer this year. The second season for the rebooted series has already been renewed.
