London-based Rocket Licensing has announced the first UK and Ireland licensing partners on board Sony Pictures Animation’s The Emoji Movie, which hits theaters across the globe in August.
Launching this spring, the lines target children ages six to 12 and include publishing (Centum Books), toys (Whitehouse Leisure), games, apparel (Smith & Brooks, TDP/Akyrods), accessories, mobile games and homewares (Dreamtex), and personal care and school supplies (Pryamid International).
The movie takes place in a secret world inside smartphones. It follows Gene, an emoji who has multiple emotions while all the other characters only have one.
Emojis have become incredibly popular in the kids space recently, with Disney creating a Disney Emoji Blitz mobile game and Nordics-based Ink launching an animated series dubbed Mojicons.
