Sarah Maizes has stepped into the newly created role of VP of children’s entertainment at The Jim Henson Company, where she will produce preschool and children’s programming for TV, home entertainment and digital media.

Maizes will focus on both animated and live-action fare, reporting to Halle Stanford, EVP of Children’s Entertainment.

Maizes is no stranger to Henson, most recently serving as production executive for Dot., the animated series based on Randi Zuckerberg’s book and produced in collaboration with Industrial Brothers and Kids’ CBC. The series currently airs on Kids’ CBC (Canada) and Sprout (US) and Henson recently released an app inspired by Dot.

Before that, Maizes penned several children’s books, including On My Way to the Bath and On My Way to Bed. In fact, she began her career as a literary agent at William Morris, where she represented children’s book authors/illustrators and went on to help build the agency’s kids entertainment division. She was also previously a development executive at Nelvana, KingWorld Animation and Mattel Entertainment.
