Movie ticketing website Fandango is launching its first-ever online merchandise store, dubbed the Fandango FanShop. It will house exclusive wearables, collectibles and events tied to new theatrical releases and classic movie franchises.
Launching next month, the Fandango FanShop’s initial offerings will feature products from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Wonder Woman and Despicable Me 3.
The new store is designed to cater to fans throughout a film’s life cycle, first providing new merchandise as the trailer debuts, then building anticipation for the movie’s theatrical release and finally continuing to engage fans with products as the flick moves into home entertainment.
Moving forward, Fandango plans to integrate ticket sales into the service and bundle special promotions. According to the company, Fandango’s ticket sales increased more than 30% in 2016 and are already up 28% in Q1 2017.
In addition to expanding online, the US company has also grown its business with acquisitions in Latin America. It recently bought Brazil’s online ticketer Ingresso.com, as well as Peruvian-based Cinepapaya (now Fandango Latin America).
