SLR’s Lexi & Lottie gets Penguin publishing deal

Penguin Random House Australia will release storybooks and activity books based on SLR Productions' tween-skewing toon.

Sydney-based SLR Productions’ animated series Lexi & Lottie is heading into the publishing world courtesy of Penguin Random House Australia, which will create storybooks and activity books aimed at Australian tweens.

The line will kick off with two storybooksHere Kitty, Kitty and Art for Art’s Sakeas well as two activity books based on the 26 x 24-minute detective comedy series. The stories will be penned by SLR Productions’ script producer Melanie Alexander, who also writes for the TV series. The new material will also include artwork from SLR Productions.

The show, aimed at six- to nine-year-olds, follows twin detectives on their adventures at Appleton Animal Park. It currently airs in Australia on free-to-air channel Eleven, and is slated to bow on Super RTL in Germany in July.
