Montreal, Canada-based streaming service Playster has acquired more than 350 episodes of Nelvana-produced content.
Under the deal, Playster picked up non-exclusive streaming rights to eight series: Babar, Backyardigans, Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew, Bob & Margaret, Rupert, Hardy Boys and Berenstein Bears. The content is available to Playster subscribers in the US, UK, France, Italy and Spain.
The deal comes as the streaming service looks to bolster its content library. In April, Playster inked a deal with DHX to acquire more than 165 episodes from its library, including preschool series Franny’s Feet, Trollz, Bo On the GO! and Animal Mechanicals. Prior to that, Playster picked up a number of live-action and animated series such as Transformers: Animated, Kaijudo, Clue and various G.I. Joe from Hasbro.
Launched in 2014, the kid-focused mobile platform provides TV shows, movies, games, music, eBooks, audio books and comics for US$24.95 per month.
