National Geographic is set to bring its Nat Geo Kids channel to the Latin American market on July 1. (A separate launch in Brazil will take place in September.) The multiplatform destination, a joint venture between National Geographic and 21st Century Fox, is aimed at four- to seven-year-olds and will focus on science, exploration, adventure and conservation.

The channel and corresponding app includes 400 hours of entertainment, available online and offline, that includes whole episodes, videos, clips, images and games.

Incoming Nat Geo Kids shows include Studio 100’s The Wild Adventures of Blinky Bill (pictured), for which National Geographic has acquired exclusive pay-TV right for its LatAm territories. Comarex, Studio 100’s exclusive distribution partner in the region, brokered the deal.

Blinky Bill is a modern version of the classic series that was written by Dorothy Wall. It follows a koala that gets into mischief with his best friend, a frill-neck lizard. The toon is co-produced with Flying Bark Productions in association with Ireland’s Telegael Teoranta and India’s Giant Wheel.

The new channel has also picked up PBS Kids’ Ready Jet Go!, DHX Media’s Chuck’s Choice and Genius Brands’ Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab. It will also air movies such as Madagascar, Megamind, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax and Stuart Little 3.

While Nat Geo Kids LatAm will create original productions, no further details have been shared yet.
