Teen influencer, singer, dancer and actress JoJo Siwa (pictured) is set to work alongside seasoned host Nick Cannon as a commentator on Nickelodeon’s new spinoff series Lip Sync Battle Shorties.

Based on Viacom-owned Spike’s Emmy-nominated global hit, Lip Sync Battle, Nick’s 10-episode kids version is created and executive produced by Casey Patterson Entertainment and Matador Content and features real-life kids lip-syncing to their favorite pop songs.

Nickelodeon added the series to its 2017 upfront lineup in March after launching a successful one-hour Lip Sync Battle Shorties special in December that was hosted by Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland. The special was a hit on television—double- and triple-digit gains with kids and more than two million total viewers—and digitally on Nickelodeon’s YouTube channel, where content from the special has generated more than 20 million views to date. New Halloween and holiday specials are slated to air later this year followed by the series premiere in early 2018.

In each episode, Lip Sync Battle Shorties lets three kids personalize their performances from song and costume selection, to choreography and staging. As Cannon’s sidekick, Siwa will offer her expert insights on the performances drawn from her own experiences as a singer and the youngest contestant ever on Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition and breakout role on Lifetime reality series Dance Moms.

Every episode will also include routines by the Shorties Dance Crew and conclude with a special celebrity appearance and final group performance featuring all of the kid participants.

Siwa first came into the Nickelodeon fold last fall when Nick CP inked a licensing partnership with the star spanning apparel, toys and publishing. She later made several TV appearances on Nick shows including TeenNick Top 10 and the kidsnet’s Ultimate Halloween Haunted House special before signing a broader multiplatform talent deal with Nick during the upfront season.

Along with Lip Sync Battle Shorties, Nick also recently greenlit an untitled docu-style special that will give viewers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into the life of 13-year-old entertainer.

In addition, Siwa will be starring in Inside Voice, a 2018 live-action TV movie featuring virtual reality sequences developed and created by Nick’s new Entertainment Lab.
