UK-based media company and rights owner Coolabi Group has inked a deal with video game publisher Maximum Games to develop a Beast Quest console game.
The game will be available for a number of entertainment systems including Playstation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC, and will be released on October 31.
Developed by Torus Games, the new game features role-play elements and will be the first console game inspired by the Beast Quest franchise. Previously, Coolabi Group partnered with mobile and online gaming platform Miniclip to launch a Beast Quest app, which boasts more than nine million downloads.
The console game will feature a similar look and feel as the popular gaming app, and will include new environments, upgrades and open-level design.
To date, the Beast Quest book series—written by Adam Blade and published by Orchard Books—has sold more than 17 million copies worldwide. In recent years, Coolabi signed a co-development deal with Zodiak Kids Studios for a spin-off CGI-animated action/adventure series called Sea Quest. The 26 x 22-minutes series is aimed at kids ages six to 11.
