Quebec, Canada-based digital entertainment studio Frima has appointed Martin Carrier, former VP and studio head of Warner Bros. Games Montreal, as its new president and CEO. Carrier took the reins at the video game and animation producer on August 7.
Carrier replaces Christian Daigle, Frima’s acting CEO since 2015, who will remain an active member of the company’s management team.
In his 20-plus years in the video game industry, Carrier founded O&O consulting firm and worked at Bluestreak Technology, as well as at Ubisoft Montreal as VP of communications and corporate affairs. He was also previously president of Quebec-based Alliance numerique, a business network for new media and digital interactive content.
Frima has worked with LEGO, Mattel, Zynga, Ubisoft, Hasbro and Electronic Arts to create virtual reality, augmented reality and connected toys. Its original properties include Chariot (console game), Nun Attack (mobile game), FATED (VR experience). MaXi, the company’s new digital app-first series created in partnership with French-language pubcaster TFO, was announced in November.
