Spanish producer Zinkia Entertainment continues to roll out its animated series Pocoyo in Brazil, signing a master agent deal with Dogs Can Fly Licensing.

The agreement sees Dogs Can Fly taking exclusive licensing and merchandising management rights for a number of categories including toys, textiles, publishing and child care in the territory. Additionally, Dogs Can Fly will handle the management of promotional and advertising activities for the show.

The Brazilian market has generated significant growth for the Pocoyo brand in recent years, and Zinkia Entertainment reports the territory is a key pillar of its Latin American expansion plans. Pocoyo’s YouTube channel in Brazil boasts more than one billion views and leads the brand’s various international YouTube channels in subscribers. The company reports that since 2014, the number of YouTube views has grown 800% from an average of four million to 40 million per month.

Multiple seasons of Pocoyo, as well as additional interactive content, are available in Brazil through digital platforms including Netflix, iTunes, the Pocoyo Play House, Play Kids and Vivo Play Kids apps. The show’s 26-episode fourth season debuted on YouTube and the YouTube Kids app in November, marking the first-ever digital-exclusive launch for a Spanish show.

Earlier this year, Zinkia expanded the presence of the Pocoyo brand in Japan, inking a master agent deal with Japanese media and marketing company Aqui Media. Terms of the agreement include audiovisual content for television and VOD platforms, as well as exclusive handling of licensing and merchandising rights across categories such as toys, publishing and apparel. The deal also spans the management of local promotions, advertising efforts, meet and greets, and live-show events.
