Celebrity-curated playlists, daily school-themed content and STEM series Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab have launched on the platform.

On the heels of its second #ReadAlong literacy campaign, YouTube Kids is set to hit the classroom in an all-new #BackToSchool initiative.

The month-long September campaign includes curated playlists and the launch of STEM-based series Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab on the online video platform. Produced by Genius Brands International, Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab bowed on Nat Geo Kids’ channels across Latin America this summer.

YouTube Kids will also roll out daily content relating to themes like locker-decorating and school supply DIYs. There will also be two new curated playlists from the likes of Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory) and YouTuber Maddie Moate. The latter is creating a playlist around Bee Awareness to teach kids about science and bees.

The initiative comes as YouTube Kids continues to expand. The app has more than 30 billion views to date and is ranked among the top five kids app in the Apple App Store. It is now available in 28 countries and is translated into seven local languages, with much of that growth occurring over the past year.
