Toronto-based Sinking Ship Entertainment is expanding the licensing program for its live-action series Odd Squad with new partner Fun.com. The Minnesota-based company’s costumes and dress-up products inspired by the show will hit retail in 2018.
Fun.com joins recent licensee Outset Media, which inked a deal with Sinking Ship earlier this year to produce Odd Squad puzzles and games. The Canadian company’s products will hit shelves next spring, focused on the show’s STEM themes surrounding math, problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Aimed at five- to eight-year-olds, the show follows a team of kid agents whose mission is to investigate unusual events. Odd Squad is a co-production between Sinking Ship Entertainment and The Fred Rogers Company for PBS and TVO. The series airs on CBBC, KiKA, PBS KIDS, TVOKids and Radio-Canada, as well as a number of international broadcasters and is available for streaming on Amazon Prime in the US and on Netflix internationally.
In addition to 80 x 22-minute episodes, the series has inspired a TV movie and an interactive live musical. The live Mills Entertainment-produced show lets kids in the audience become secret agents on stage, solve a strange case in real time and use Odd Squad‘s gadgetry. It also features music from the Odd Squad’s favorite band, Soundcheck, as well as new songs from composer Paul Buckley.
