L.A.-based Sonar Entertainment has started production on its new kids series Go Away, Unicorn! that will debut in the US on Disney Channel and in Canada on Corus Entertainment’s YTV in fall 2018.

Produced by Sonar for Disney Channel and YTV, the 52 x 11-minute toon (with 10 x two-minute shorts) will air on other Disney networks across the globe, including Disney UK, CEEMA, Italy, France, Latin America, Australia, Korea and Russia. It follows Alice and her unicorn as they learn to handle their differences and forge a new and unlikely friendships.

Based on the popular children’s book published by McKellar & Martin, written and illustrated by Emily Mullock, the show was developed by Dan Signer (ANT Farm, Some Assembly Required) who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Jason Groh (Wishfart, Little Charmers) is directing Go Away, Unicorn! with Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana animating the show (produced with assistance from the Canada Media Fund).

Sonar acquired the series when it scooped up the assets  of Toronto and L.A.-based Tricon Films & Television. The indie producer and distributor declared bankruptcy in December.
