Icelandic lifestyle brand Tulipop has partnered with Hot Topic for an exclusive US retail launch. Products inspired by the animated property will be featured in Hot Topic’s 600 stores across the US, and will also be available through the retailer’s website.
To celebrate the partnership, Tulipop created a special street art project in L.A. that sees Tulipop’s co-founder and head illustrator Signý Kolbeinsdóttir work with Venice Art Walls to create a colorful mural on the California beach. Additionally, US fans of the lifestyle brand can win a trip to Iceland by sharing photos of the mural or of their own Tulipop art on social media as part of the “TulipopUSA” competition.
The launch follows a number of new US licensing agreements for the brand, which were brokered by Tulipop’s US agents Sage Licensing Group and Playlife Company. The cross-category deals are with Loungefly (accessories) and Mighty Fine (apparel), and products from Pyramid (stationery), Mad Dog (socks) and Jay Franco (bedding) will be available at Hot Topic locations next year.
The new licensees join existing partners–including Toynami (collectibles, plush)–that have launched toys, homeware and stationery in 100 stores across Europe.
Tulipop is inspired by Icelandic heritage and ancient fairytales. Earlier this year, the brand inspired a Tulipop YouTube channel featuring a series of animated webisodes created by DHX Media’s online kids network WildBrain. The series features 2.5-minute episodes for kids ages seven and up.
