Toronto-based Boat Rocker Media has hired Shannon Valliant to the newly created position of chief financial officer.

Valliant, who previously served in a number of executive roles at Canadian media conglomerate Rogers Communications, will report to Boat Rocker CEO John Young. Valliant will be tasked with financial administration, financial and operational planning, and corporate development support, as well as investor relations across Boat Rocker’s Studios, Rights, Brands and Ventures divisions.

During her time at Rogers, Valliant held the role of SVP of commercial strategy and also served as the company’s VP of financial operations. Prior to joining Rogers, she was the CFO at Nereus Financial.

The C-suite addition is Boat Rocker’s first since last November, when the company promoted Samantha Traub to COO and Michel Pratte to CRO.

Earlier this week, Boat Rocker Rights sold more than 200 hours of kids and family titles, including the acquisition of CBC Kids original Ollie! The Boy Who Became What He Ate by Universal Kids in the US.
