Netflix has confirmed to Kidscreen that Andy Yeatman, previously director of global kids content, is no longer employed by the streaming service. The December 11 termination follows comments Yeatman made in early December regarding the investigation into allegations of sexual assault against Danny Masterson, the recently dismissed exec producer and actor on Netflix original The Ranch.

As reported on December 4 by HuffPost, Yeatman was approached on the sidelines of a children’s soccer game earlier this month by a woman who asked if he worked at Netflix and why the company had not taken action against Masterson following accusations of sexual assault and later identified herself as one of Masterson’s alleged victims.

In March, a Los Angeles Police Department investigation into allegations of sexual assault against Masterson by multiple women in the early 2000s was made public. In July, Netflix’s comedy series The Ranch–which starred and was co-executive produced by Masterson–was renewed for a third, 20-episode season.

Following HuffPost‘s report, Netflix confirmed that Yeatman made the comments, stating, “Mr. Yeatman’s comments were careless, uninformed and do not represent the views of the company. Further, he would have no insights into decision making on The Ranch. We are aware of the allegations against Danny Masterson and we are following the current investigation, and will respond if developments occur.”

On December 5 Netflix announced that Masterson would be written out of the show and that production on the series would resume in early 2018 without him.

As director of global kids content, Yeatman led the children and teen programming team for Netflix globally, including both original and licensed content. He first joined Netflix in 2011, helping to launch its service in Latin America and acquiring film and television content for its North American service.
