Toronto, Canada-based family entertainment producer Fresh TV, UK distributor CAKE, Cartoon Network US and Corus Entertainment’s Teletoon have joined forces on Total Drama Daycare, a 52 x 11-minute animated series that will serve as a prequel to the Total Drama franchise.

Currently in production, Total Drama Daycare is set to premiere on Cartoon Network in the US and on Teletoon in Canada in 2018. The series will reintroduce fan-favorite characters like Owen and Courtney as they are aged down from teenagers to toddlers. Each ep will feature dream sequences, visual jokes, confessionals and flashbacks.

Created by Tom McGillis and Jennifer Pertsch, the Total Drama franchise (which spans six series) first bowed in 2007 with Total Drama Island. Total Drama is currently produced by Fresh TV in association with Teletoon and Cartoon Network, and is distributed globally by CAKE.

In September, CAKE inked a distribution deal with Virgin Media that will see 500 episodes launch on Virgin TV Kids, the UK pay-TV operator’s new iOS and Android app for preschoolers. The agreement–which includes episode of Total Drama–will make content available on Virgin TV Kids in the UK and Ireland.
