Netflix has acquired global rights (excluding Canada) to the remake of the 1990s children’s series Reboot.

The updated version, ReBoot: The Guardian Code, which is a hybrid of live action and CG animation, will premiere on the global streamer on March 30, ahead of its Canadian premiere on YTV in June. The original incarnation of Reboot ran on YTV between 1994 and 2001.

The show is produced by Mainframe Studios, a division of WOW! Unlimited Media, with Corus Entertainment-owned Nelvana distributing internationally and representing the series for global licensing and merchandising.

Created by Michael Hefferon, the series follows four teenagers who, on their first day at a new high school, discover they have been preselected to become the Next-Generation Guardians of Cyberspace with a mission to save the world. Production got underway in March 2017, with Larry Raskin serving as showrunner.

The Guardian Code stars Ty Wood (The Haunting in Connecticut), Sydney Scotia (Some Assembly Required), Ajay Parikh-Friese (Mr. Young) and Gabriel Darku (Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments). Executive producers are Hefferon, Raskin and Corus production exec Matt Sheppo. Co-exec producer Pat Williams directs and Michael Dowding serves as supervising director of animation.
