Disney Channel has greenlit two original animated series—Amphibia and The Owl House (pictured)—and ordered a fourth season Annie Award-nominated Star vs. The Forces of Evil.
Amphibia follows the comedic adventures of a self-centered, 13-year-old girl who is magically transported to a marshland world inhabited by frog-people. Former Gravity Falls director and storyboard artist Matt Braly is the show’s executive producer.
The Owl House, meanwhile, is a horror/comedy series executive produced by another ex-Gravity Falls storyboard artist, Dana Terrace, whose credits also include Disney’s DuckTales. The series follows Luz, a self-assured human girl who gets to fulfill her dream of becoming a witch.
Both series will be produced by Disney Television Animation (TVA) and premiere in 2019.
As for Disney’s hit series Star vs. The Forces of Evil from creator/executive producer Daron Nefcy, a new fourth season will continue the adventures of the titular teen princess (Eden Sher) and her best friend as they explore new dimensions. The third season of Star vs. was Disney XD’s top-ranked series for kids ages six to 11 and nine to 14.
A premiere date for the new season has not been announced, but Disney Press will release a hardcover book, entitled Star vs. the Forces of Evil: The Magic Book of Spells, this July.
