Disney Channel has started production on a new limited series entitled Fast Layne. Produced by Omnifilm Entertainment subsidiary Lakeshore Productions, the eight-episode live-action series will bow later this year.

Created by Travis Braun (Vampirina), the action/comedy stars The Young and the Restless actor Sophie Pollono (pictured top left) as a 12-year-old girl who finds her life turned upside down when she comes across a sophisticated talking car named V.I.N. Additional cast members include Sofia Rosinky (The Other Side of the Door, pictured bottom right), Brandon Rossel (The Outsiders Club, top right) and Winslow Fegley (Teachers, bottom left).

Braun will also serve as a co-executive producer with Matt Dearborn and Tom Burkahrd (Even Stevens, Zeke and Luther) as the executive producers. Harsaf Dulull (Original Unknown, The Beyond) is on board to direct the show’s first two episodes.

Fast Layne arrives as the House of Mouse continues to double down on girl-led series. Disney Channel recently renewed Andi Mack for a third season and greenlit two original animated series featuring female leads. A fourth season of Star Vs. The Forces of Evil is also in the works.
