In its first partnership with Disney, UK startup Tech Will Save Us is set to launch a Marvel Avengers-themed electronic kit that’s designed to teach kids about electricity using conductive dough.
Ahead of the April 27 premiere of Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity Wars. the Electro Hero kit will be available beginning tomorrow on the Tech Will Save Us website. The US$40 kit includes LED lights, dough cutters, batteries and wires.
The product launch is taking place within a week of the startup’s US$4.2-million Series A funding round led by Initial Capital with participation from Backed VC, SaatchInvest, All Bright, Unltd-inc and Leaf VC, as well as angel investors Chris Lee (co-founder of Media Molecule, and a former VP at Activision and Electronic Arts), Martin McCourt (former Dyson CEO) and Jonathan Howell (CTO at Made.com).
Launched in 2012, Tech Will Save Us previously partnered with the BBC to create micro:bit, a pocket-sized coding computer that’s currently sold at 4,000 global retailers, including Amazon, Target and Best Buy.
